Building Highlights

Built in 1893, the building is located in the West Chelsea Gallery District.

Known as the Spears Building and originally built as a commercial manufacturing building, it was converted into condominiums in 1996.

The building is distinguished by its facades, embellished by shutter hinges and its two prominent water tanks.

Project Highlights

Scope of Project: FSI engineered the building's mechanical systems after they were damaged by Hurricane Sandy. 

FSI's Involvement: Designed and engineered the installation of new boilers, domestic hot water heaters and hydroponic distribution pumps on new equipment platforms set at a higher elevation to prevent damage from future flooding.
