Project Highlights
Scope of Project: FSI was commissioned to resolve high levels of radon detected in the property. Radon gas occurs naturally in the soil as a result of decaying uranium and is a common indoor air quality problem.
FSI's Involvement: The FSI team arranged for radon testing and designed a radon suction pit and piping which included an energy recovery unit. Radon gas was exhausted from the cellar to two locations ten feet above the roof. FSI assisted the Board in selecting a contractor and throughout the whole construction process. In addition, the firm investigated the operation of the five gas fired boilers located in the cellar and identified deficiencies which caused the boilers to shut down during seasonal changeover periods due to inadequate combustion air supply.
